Small Plane Crashes in North Carolina, Injuring Two

<p>An instructor and trainee were close to landing when the plane shifted from its route and crashed into nearby grass.</p>

Two people were taken to the hospital following a small plane crash Saturday at Rowan County Airport in Salisbury, N.C., officials said.

The crash occurred around noon, according to the Rowan County Sheriff's office, which is handling the investigation.

NBC's Charlotte affiliate WCNC reported that an instructor and trainee were close to landing when the plane shifted from its route and crashed into nearby grass.

The victims' injuries are not life threatening, WCNC added.
