A 24-year-old Massachusetts man has been arrested in connection with the murder of his parents who were found stabbed to death in the U.S. Virgin Islands, officials said.

Kenneth Young, 73, and his wife Jane, 66 — of Sudbury, Massachusetts — were found stabbed to death on Sunday afternoon in the U.S. Virgin Islands at the condominium complex where they were staying.

"One of the residents had discovered an unresponsive body, the body appeared to be covered in blood. They discovered a second victim in a bathtub," Commander Delroy Richards Sr. of the Virgin Islands Police Department told NBC affiliate WHDH.

Their son Mikhail allegedly fled the scene and flew to Massachusetts, prompting the U.S. Virgin Islands Police Department to contact the Sudbury Police Department regarding the double homicide, according to a statement from Massachusetts authorities. Sudbury Police then found and arrested Young.

Mikhail Young — who was on probation for an earlier indecent exposure charge — was arraigned in Massachusetts court on Tuesday and charged with being a fugitive from justice, according to the Middlesex District Attorney's office. Police said Young is being held in custody pending the official receipt of homicide charges from officials in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

"This is a horrific crime where the suspect allegedly killed his own parents," Sudbury Police Chief Scott Nix said in a statement.
