A South Carolina high school student has been charged after he allegedly went through his teacher's phone and posted a partially nude picture of her online.

The photo of Leigh Anne Arthur, a teacher at Union County High School, spread after the unidentified 16-year-old grabbed Arthur's phone from her desk while she was patrolling the hallway, she told NBC affiliate WYFF in Greenville.

The student was charged Friday with computer crimes and aggravated voyeurism, police in Union told the station.

Officials said the teen took photos of Arthur's picture with his own phone, and stored them in a file that had other sexually explicit photos in it before he posted it online.

The picture was intended for her husband for Valentine's Day, Arthur said, adding that her phone wasn't password-protected. She resigned from the school after the district superintendent told her she bore some of the responsibility for keeping racy photos private and gave her the option to go through a dismissal process or resign.

But Arthur feels the student deserves the blame.

"He had to hit my apps button and to open up all my apps and then open my gallery," she said.

More than 12,000 people have signed a petition to bring her back to the high school, where she taught mechanical engineering and computer programming. Despite the outpouring of support, Arthur said she isn't sure she even wants her job back.

"There is no clothing big enough to make you feel protected," Arthur told WYFF.

The teen, who is not identified because he is a juvenile, is in the Department of Juvenile Justice Center in Columbia, about 70 miles southeast of Union, WYFF reported.
