"Afroduck," the speed demon who posted a YouTube video of himself zooming around the island of Manhattan in just 24 minutes, has been identified and charged, and authorities said Friday it's not the first time he's pulled a stunt like that.
Christopher Adam Tang, 30, of Manhattan, was arraigned Friday on charges of reckless driving, reckless endangerment and other misdemeanors in connection with the documented joyride in the middle of the night Aug. 26 in his 2006 BMW Z4.
Bail for Tang, a self-employed day trader with a Canadian passport, was set at $10,000 bond or $5,000 cash. He also had to surrender his passport.
A criminal complaint said Tang, who was arrested Thursday, claimed he never went over 100 mph for the entire 26-mile trip — which included stops for six traffic lights.
The video, which you can watch at the top of this story, was posted Aug. 28 under the user name Afroduck, who boasted that it was the fastest circumnavigation ever of Manhattan.
Assistant District Attorney Shilpa Kalra told the court that Tang has "numerous" past driving violations — even having boasted that he once drove 4,000 miles "over approximately 38 hours," the New York Daily News reported. It isn't known if that actually occurred.
Tang's next court appearance was scheduled for Wednesday.
