The man charged with abducting missing University of Virginia student Hannah Graham was extradited from Texas to Virginia, where he was being held without bond. Jesse Leroy Matthew, 32, faces a charge of abduction with the intent to defile in Charlottesville, Virginia. A days-long manhunt ended Wednesday when police found Matthew on a beach in Galveston County, Texas.
Charlottesville police have been desperate to question Matthew about Graham's disappearance, but he, too, vanished after a brief visit to the police station last weekend. Galveston County Sheriff Henry Trochesset said Friday that Matthew was "very quiet" during the two days he spent in the Galveston jail. Trochesset said three investigators from Virginia would remain in Texas and were combing the car Matthew was found with on Wednesday. The beach where Matthew was located was also searched, but "we've found nothing," Trochesset said. Police believe Matthew was the last person seen with Graham.
