A man wanted in the murder of a Minnesota police officer during a traffic stop near St. Paul was shot and wounded by police Wednesday, ending a daylong manhunt.
Suspect Brian Fitch Sr. was shot and wounded Wednesday evening after he allegedly fired at cops who cornered him in a business park parking lot in St. Paul, police said. Fitch was seriously injured and taken to an area hospital. No officers were hurt.
Earlier Wednesday at around 12:30 p.m., Fitch allegedly shot dead Mendota heights Police Officer Scott Patrick, 47, after Patrick pulled over a vehicle in West St. Paul, NBC affiliate KARE reported. A motive in the killing wasn’t released.
