Three of the seven victims of a shooting rampage in a rural Missouri community were related, authorities said Saturday. But their connection to the suspected shooter, who was found dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound early Friday, remains unclear.

The three victims, Darrell Dean Shriver, 68; his son, Carey Dean Shriver, 46; and his daughter-in-law, Valirea Love Shriver, 44, were killed in a door-to-door shooting spree in Tyrone that left five others dead, including 36-year-old suspect Joseph Jesse Aldridge.

The Shrivers were found fatally shot in two separate homes early Friday morning, according to investigators. Meanwhile, two married couples — Darrell and Julie Aldridge and Harold and Janelle Aldridge — were found with fatal gunshot wounds in two other homes, Missouri State Highway Patrol Sgt. Jeff Kinder said Friday. The two men were the suspected shooter's cousins, Texas County Sheriff James Sigman said.

Aldridge's mother, 74-year-old Alice Aldridge, was also found dead in a nearby home. Authorities believe she died of natural causes, and Texas County coroner Tom Whittaker said Aldridge's discovery of his dead mother may have set him off. An eighth victim was wounded in the spree that spanned a total of four houses in the unincorporated community of Tyrone, which has about 50 residents. She is expected to recover, Sigman said. Her identity has not been released.

Joseph Jesse Aldridge was found dead at about 5:30 a.m. CT (6:30 a.m. ET) inside a pickup truck on a highway about 25 miles from Tyrone. Sigman said investigators found the truck parked in the middle of the road.
