Two Adults Dead in Portland Murder-Suicide; Girls Found Safe

Police in Portland, Oregon, are investigating a possible murder-suicide that began with the killing of a woman inside a home in the city's southwest section and ended with a man's shooting himself across town.

The woman, identified as Nicolette Naomi Elias, 46, was found in a Southwest Brugger Street home at 7:20 a.m. (10:20 a.m. ET) after neighbors reported hearing gunshots and seeing someone fleeing the home with two young girls, police said. They were later called to a home on Northeast 25th Avenue, where they found Ian Martin Elias, 47, who had killed himself, police Sgt. Peter Simpson told NBC News. Simpson said Elias was believed to be the father of the 8- and 9-year-old girls who were taken early Monday. They were found safe, he said.
