Police in Washington are trying to narrow in on a suspect after a body believed to be missing 6-year-old Jenise Wright was found near the mobile home park where she lived Thursday.

A cause of death has not yet been determined, but Kitsap County Deputy Sheriff Scott Wilson told reporters Thursday that “this is going to be a criminal investigation, there’s no doubt about that.” Searchers using police dogs found the child’s body at about 11:30 a.m. in a wooded area near the Steele Creek Mobile Home Park in Bremerton.

The Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office said that while the body will be formally identified by the county coroner, investigators are “confident” the body is Jenise’s.

The FBI joined the search Tuesday for Jenise, who was last seen when she went to bed Saturday night at her home near Bremerton, in northern Washington. Authorities have said her parents took FBI lie detector tests; they haven't disclosed the results, but have said the parents have been cooperative. The FBI said Thursday it would continue to assist in the case.
