Kaitlyn Conley, 23, of Sauquoit, New York, is accused of second-degree murder in connection with the death of Dr. Mary Yoder, according to the Oneida County Sheriff's Office.

Conley worked for the 60-year-old victim and her husband Dr. William Yoder at their chiropractic clinic in Whitesboro, New York. Dr. Mary Yoder died in July 2015.

Detectives launched an investigation in November after a family member expressed suspicions about the death, the sheriff’s office said in a statement.

A medical examiner later determined that she had died after being poisoned with colchicine, which is sometimes used to treat gout, NBC affiliate WKTV reported.

Conley was arrested on Monday. Authorities have also charged her with forgery, falsifying business records, and petit larceny.
