A police car's hood was stabbed with an eight-inch butcher's knife, authorities in Arizona said on Wednesday.
Zachary Jacobson, 20, told deputies after being arrested that he targeted the cruiser because he "hates the police" and "wanted to send a message to everyone," according to a statement from the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office.
Jacobson was spotted jumping on the hood of the cruiser in the town of Fountain Hills, around 20 miles from Phoenix, the statement said.
A sheriff's posseman ordered him at gunpoint to drop the knife — at which point the vehicle was stabbed, it added.
Jacobson was scheduled to be booked into a local jail.
