Lightning forced the temporary evacuation Monday night of Beyoncé's concert in Minneapolis, Minnesota, stranding thousands of members of the Beyhive in stadium concourses and nearby shelters.
Forecasts of severe thunderstorms in the Twin Cities had already delayed the concert about a half-hour as officials at the University of Minnesota, where the concert was scheduled, huddled in meetings to assess the weather, NBC station KARE reported.
The lightning pushed things back even further, and the go-ahead at TCF Bank Stadium wasn't announced until 9 p.m. (10 p.m. ET).
The concert got under way about 9:30 p.m.
The lightning was part of a spring storm system that threatened heavy rain and winds across the entire middle third of the country, from Minnesota to Texas, the National Weather Service said.
Isolated hail and tornadoes were possible, said the agency, which reported that a confirmed tornado touched down briefly in Adams County, Nebraska. No damage or injuries were immediately reported.
