The Midwest cleaned up on Monday after a weekend of rough weather that left one person dead, and 25 million people were at risk of severe thunderstorms as the system pushed toward the Northeast.
A man was killed when a tent collapsed at a festival outside Chicago on Sunday during a storm that produced 60 mph wind and large hail. At least 15 people were taken to the hospital, three with serious injuries.
A strong thunderstorm cut a 5-mile path of destruction in the city of Grayslake, Illinois, bringing down trees and tearing roofs off buildings, and a tornado was captured on camera in Iowa. Barns were reported damaged, but there were no known injuries.
In Chicago, organizers had to suspend Lollapalooza for an hour because of a thunderstorm, then end it half an hour early, NBC Chicago reported.
As the storm system rolled east, the risk of severe weather on Monday stretched from Kentucky to Maine and included Cleveland, Cincinnati and Pittsburgh.
