Teachers returning to a Texas school to start the new academic year had an unexpected visitor Wednesday morning. An alligator was found by the front door of Beck Junior High in Katy, Texas, according to Houston affiliate KPRC. The gator later made its way toward another part of the school’s exterior, where it was cornered.
Deputies from the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office monitored the situation while waiting for officials from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. They eventually safely removed the beast, which remained calm throughout much of the ordeal. School is not yet in session and students will not return until late August.
