Forget sand traps.

Instead, golfers at this Florida course better watch out for the giant gator roaming the green.

Video posted to Facebook last week and making the viral rounds online shows the massive creature — estimated at about 14 to 15 feet long — stalking the Buffalo Creek Golf Course in Palmetto.

"You ever see anything that big? I think that's two guys in an alligator suit," a bewildered bystander says in the video as the leathery reptile lumbers past the third hole toward a lake.

Charles Helms, who captured the jaw-dropping sight, told NBC News that he realized the alligator didn't want to bother anyone.

"You kind of learn very early on that people really aren't on the menu," Helms said. "Just don't bother it, don't annoy it. Certainly don't corner it — just let it go."

The alligator, it turns out, is a regular attraction at the course. Golfers often bring people to snap pictures of it, pro shop clerk Wendy Schofield told NBC affiliate KSNV.

"He doesn't bother anybody and they don't bother him. He's like a mascot for the course, which is owned by Manatee County," Schofield said.

But this isn't the first time a colossal gator has hit the links in the Sunshine State.

Last year, another one was seen about an hour away at the Myakka Pines Golf Club in Englewood, where workers said it appeared "to have taken residence on our White Course #7 hole."
