The alleged killer of former Miss Honduras Maria Jose Alvarado faced the cameras Thursday as police took him to testify before a judge in the city of Santa Barbara. Plutarco Antonio Ruiz, the boyfriend of the beauty queen's sister Sofia Trinidad, is one of four people arrested in the case. Police say Ruiz confessed to killing the sisters during a heated argument with Sofia after she danced with another man. He allegedly shot her first, and then shot Maria Jose twice in the back as she tried to flee.
Grieving family members laid the women to rest at a tiny cemetery near their hometown on Thursday. Their mother wept as she kissed the two caskets adorned with flowers.
