Newly released video shows the captain of the Costa Concordia preparing to leave the ship in the moments after it was wrecked, prosecutors say.

The captain, Francesco Schettino, is on trial for manslaughter and abandoning ship. Prosecutors have asked for a 20-year prison sentence. Schettino has claimed that he fell overboard.

The video, shot by Italian firefighters and released by prosecutors, appears to show Schettino calmly standing near a lifeboat.

In court on Wednesday, Schettino disputed that it was him in the video.

The Costa Concordia capsized in January 2012 when it struck rocks off a Tuscan island, killing 32 people and forcing more than 4,000 to scramble to safety.
