A dog had a remarkable recovery after falling into a pool of thick tar that left him completely unable to move, rescue workers in India said. The animal was covered in a thick layer of "rock-solid tar," according to local charity Animal Aid Unlimited. It took volunteers four hours over a period of two days to remove the tar by repeatedly rubbing vegetable oil into the animal’s skin. "He is very understandably traumatized by the whole ordeal but is feeling so much better and is such a good little boy," the charity said in a Facebook post.

"After two hours of massaging the oil into the tar most of it was off, and we bathed him with warm water and dish washing soap," the charity added. "We shudder to imagine his fate without rescue."
