PESHAWAR, Pakistan — A drone strike killed an alleged militant who owned the house where alleged 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed was arrested in 2003, according to an al-Qaeda-affiliated group. The newly formed al Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent announced that Adil Abdul Qadus, his brother-in-law Dr. Sarbaland and Sarbaland's two children were killed in a strike targeting a pickup truck in the Dattakhel area of North Waziristan a few days ago. The announcement came as Pakistani officials said a separate drone strike killed at least six suspected militants and injured three others in North Waziristan late Thursday.
Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, who is now a detainee at Guantanamo Bay, was called the "the principal architect of the 9/11 attacks" in the 9/11 Commission Report. Sarbaland was a described as a "skillful surgeon" and "strategic ideologue" in a series of Arabic tweets posted by AQIS spokesman Usama Mahmoud. The Pakistani army is currently waging a months-long operation against Taliban and al-Qaeda-linked militants who have controlled North Waziristan for years.
