A Taliban suicide bomber near Afghanistan’s capital struck a minibus carrying army officers Thursday morning, killing three military personnel and wounding eight others, officials said, in the latest attack since the country’s new government took power.
The suicide attacker detonated a bomb and killed the officers at 7 a.m. local time in the Doghabad area, Ministry of Defense spokesman General Zahir Azimi said.
The new suicide bomber was the third since new Afghan President Ashraf Ghani on Tuesday signed a security agreement with the United States that would allow U.S. troops to remain in the country past 2014, something the Taliban called “an unforgettable treason.”
Two suicide attackers struck army troops Wednesday morning inside Kabul and just outside the city. The Taliban also took responsibility for those attacks.
