Election season offers a feast for headline writers.

Among the harshest New York City tabloid covers this election cycle, most have been directed toward Republican candidates Donald Trump and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz.

The most recent critical cover was published Thursday by the New York Daily News with a headline that read "Take the F U train Ted!" sprawled over a photo of Cruz and his wife, Heidi.

The cover story discussed Cruz’s recent campaign stop in the Bronx, where he was met with several unwelcome remarks by residents, particularly directed at his stance on immigration and his comments on how GOP rival Donald Trump represents “New York values.”

Other covers have mocked Trump for referencing his manhood during a GOP debate, a former Ku Klux Klan grand wizard’s support of the real estate mogul and his loss to Cruz in the Iowa caucuses.

Meanwhile Democratic candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders faced judgment from the tabloids for opposing efforts to sue gun manufacturers involved in the 2012 Sandy Hook shooting. The New York Post also teased Hillary Clinton for her loss to Sanders during the New Hampshire primary.
