Hillary Clinton called herself “a progressive who knows how to get things done” and dinged rival Bernie Sanders for distancing himself from capitalism at the first Democratic presidential debate on Tuesday.
“When I think about capitalism, I think about all the small businesses that were started because we have the opportunity and the freedom in our country for people to do that,” Clinton said.
Sanders said on “Meet The Press” on Sunday that he is a Democratic socialist and does not describe himself as a capitalist.
At the debate in Las Vegas, Sanders said, "Do I consider myself part of the casino capitalist process by which so few have so much and so many have so little, by which wall street's greed and recklessness wrecked this economy? No I don't. I believe in a sociaety where all people do well, not just a handful of billionaires."
At the start of the debate Clinton described herself as “a progressive, but I’m a progressive who knows how to get things done,” another subtle dig at Sanders who has spent much of his career in the Senate.
