Republican presidential candidate Carly Fiorina raised $6.8 million from July through September, her campaign announced Thursday.
According to her deputy campaign manager, Fiorina has $5.5 million cash on hand. Her fundraising total for the quarter was less than the approximately $20 million raised by rival Ben Carson, but is more than Marco Rubio and Rand Paul, who brought in $6 million and 2.5 million respectively.
The third quarter haul for the former CEO of Hewlett Packard CEO came as she rose from a relatively unknown candidate to the top tier of the Republican primary race.
Fiorina was not on the main stage at the first Republican debate in August. However, after a strong performance in Cleveland, she surged in the polls, allowing her to compete on the main stage in September.
In the latest NBC News/WSJ/Marist polls, Fiorina placed second in New Hampshire and third in Iowa.
