Former Rhode Island governor and senator Lincoln Chafee will join the slowly growing list of Democrats challenging Hillary Clinton for the presidential nomination.
Chafee will enter the 2016 fray in a speech at George Mason Center for Politics & Foreign Relations on June 3, MSNBC confirmed. He is expected to be the fourth Democrat to enter the race.
Politico first reported the news.
Chafee is relatively new to the Democratic party, having joined in 2013. He served as a moderate Republican in the Senate before losing his seat in 2006. He successfully campaigned for governor as an independent in 2010, but decline to run for re-election.
