Mike Pence on Wednesday said he is “disappointed” in Ohio Gov. John Kasich’s decision to not vote for the Trump-Pence ticket.
“Obviously we're disappointed to not have his support going into this election,” Pence acknowledged in an interview on Rush Limbaugh’s radio program.
"You know, we'll let political leaders make their own decisions and announce those decisions,” Pence said, suggesting, however, that the ticket is encouraged by the "support we're getting all across the Buckeye State.” Polls continue to show the Trump ticket with an edge over Clinton in Ohio.
Kasich’s spokesman confirmed on Monday that the governor and former presidential candidate wrote in Sen. John McCain’s name.
“You want to vote for someone you can support,” said Kasich’s spokesman Chris Schrimpf. "He’s been clear he can't support Trump. He’s been equally clear he can’t support Clinton.”
McCain later told NBC News in a statement that he appreciated his “old friend and Ohio’s outstanding governor” paying him “the compliment.”
