Poll: Sanders Outperforms Clinton in Hypothetical General-Election Matchups

Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders does better than former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton against Republican front-runner Donald Trump in a hypothetical general election race, according to a new NBC News and Wall Street Journal poll.

Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders does better than former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton against Republican front-runners Donald Trump and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz in a hypothetical general election race, according to a new NBC News and Wall Street Journal poll.

The poll also asked respondents who they'd support in a three-way race with former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg. Sanders still won, garnering 43 percent support to Trump's 33 percent and Bloomberg's 16 percent.

The NBC/WSJ/Marist poll was conducted Feb. 15-17 of 800 registered voters (a margin of error of plus-minus 3.5 percentage points).
