Connecticut Governor Dannel Malloy held on to his gubernatorial seat. Nearly 17 hours after the polls closed, Republican challenger Tom Foley conceded in the close race.
"We came very close," Foley said in a statement. "Governor Malloy won this election with fewer votes than we won in 2010."
Democrats staved off a Republican win in the northeastern blue state.
This was a rematch between the two. Malloy also won in 2010.
