Michigan Rep. John Dingell - the longest-serving member of Congress - was admitted to a Detroit hospital Monday after suffering from abdominal pain, but his office says the 88 year-old lawmaker is "doing well."
"Dingell is doing well, is receiving an IV treatment of antibiotics, and remains in good spirits," his office said in a statement. "Doctors expect him to be released in a few days, and Dingell expects to be in Washington for Congressional session next week."
Dingell announced earlier this year that he would not run for re-election in 2014. His wife, Debbie, is running for his congressional seat.
