9:00am ET: And, it's over! Check out NBCNews.com and TODAY.com for more on Hillary Clinton's town hall event.

Before the town hall, Clinton blasted the House Select Committee on Benghazi, calling it a "partisan political" exercise intended to damage her presidential bid. Here's more, from NBC's Monica Alba.

8:56am ET: Asked by Savannah what would make her unique as the first female president, she says "We have a very different life experience."

"Who can be more of an outsider than a woman president?" Clinton asks.

8:54am ET: Asked about Joe Biden, she repeats what she's said before: "It's up to him to make the best decision for him and his family."

And, she adds, "Once you're in the political fray, everybody begins to ask you questions, but he knows that."

8:52:am ET: "Hypothetically speaking, would you consider a vice presidential position?" "Hypothetically speaking, no," Clinton replies with a laugh.

8:51am ET: What's her favorite book? "The Brothers Karamazov... It's just an amazing story about faith."

8:49am ET: Savannah follows up with a question about her support for a no-fly zone in Syria, a position that breaks with the Obama administration.

8:47am ET: A military veteran asks Clinton about her vote for the Iraq war. She repeats that the vote was a mistake: "I misjudged."

"I am much more wary and more prepared to say no, because I saw what was done with a vote I gave the president," she says.

8:45am ET: Next question to Clinton: Are you ready to take on Donald Trump -- and are you ready for the insults? "As you may have noticed, I'm kind of used to being insulted." More: "As I've said, if he gets the nomination, I look forward to meeting him on the debate stage."

8:43am ET: What's Clinton's favorite celebratory drink? "A martini. A vodka martini, in the James Bond way."

8:38am ET: An undecided voter from Portsmouth asks: If she played an instrument, what instrument would she play? She notes her singing on Saturday Night Live this weekend, with a shoutout for SNL actress Kate McKinnon "who plays me better than I play me."

8:33am ET: A question from social media: Have you ever been fired from a job and why? Clinton tells story of how she got a job at an Alaska cannery after college. "I was given a spoon and some boots and I was told to take out the insides of the salmon." The bosses yelled at her in Japanese to remove the caviar faster. Later in the job, she questioned the manager about the quality of the salmon. "When I left, I came back the next day and the whole operation was gone."

8:29am ET: A brief break from questions for some pancake-flipping. (Guests here have enjoyed a hearty breakfast -- and much-needed coffee.)
8:22am ET: Next question is on college affordability. Clinton differentiates herself from those who advocate for "free" college, emphasizing her plan to facilitate debt-free schooling instead. "I am not in favor of making college free for Donald Trump's kids."

8:15am ET: Clinton gets a question on why a voter who cares passionately about income inequality should vote for her over Bernie Sanders. As she has before, she says she won't talk about Sanders but will outline her own plan.

"Our real differences are with the Republicans," she says.

8:10am ET: And we're under way! The first question to Clinton is on gun control. The former secretary of state, who just unveiled her new gun plan overnight, says "I really do want to push hard to get more sensible restraints on gun ownership on the wrong hands, and to try to keep track of people who shouldn't have guns."

She adds that gun owners say that background checks make sense.

8:05am ET: Before the town hall, Clinton spoke to NBC's Savannah Guthrie about her poll numbers, her likeability, her appearance on Saturday Night Live, and the ongoing controversy about her use of a private email server.

Here's what she had to say about the the congressional panel investigating the Benghazi attacks.

7:50am ET: It's already been a newsy morning for Clinton, who unveiled a series of sweeping new gun proposals overnight. Clinton's plan would close the gun show loophole - possibly through executive action -- and would repeal an NRA-backed law that prevents victims of gun crime from suing gun manufacturers. You can read more about Clinton's plan here from NBC campaign reporter Monica Alba.

Also hot off the presses this morning: Newly-released NBC News/Wall Street Journal/Marist polls show that Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders fares better than Clinton in head-to-head matchups in New Hampshire and Iowa against Donald Trump, Carly Fiorina and Jeb Bush.

Savannah Guthrie announced live on TODAY that Donald Trump has accepted an invitation to participate in a similar TODAY town hall in the coming weeks.
