House Ethics Committee extends review of Bachmann campaign

The House Committee on Ethics announced Friday that it will continue to review an investigation of Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., for possible campaign finance violations during her 2012 presidential run.

The independent Office of Congressional Ethics referred its own probe of Bachmann’s presidential campaign to the House panel last month. The House committee's announcement Friday means that members will review the OCE findings and announce any further action by September.

The committee noted in its announcement that its decision to extend the OCE investigation does not indicate that members believe a violation definitely occurred.
