The Presidential turkey pardon dates back to the 19th century. These days, the Internet has allowed the White House to make the process more democratic, with Twitter cards now allowing people to vote directly from the White House's tweet. (Lebron James used the same tool to ask Cleveland Cavaliers fans whether they wanted him to do the "chalk toss" before games).

If voters can tell the turkeys apart, they can express their support on Twitter with the hashtags #TeamMac and #TeamCheese. Both turkeys are male and share the same birthday, although Cheese is packing two extra pounds over the slimmer Mac.

Don't worry about condemning the losing turkey to the dinner table. Both birds will end up relaxing after Thanksgiving at a turkey farm in Leesburg, Virginia.
