John Stamos, Matt Lauer share TODAY bromance: 'Should we make out?'

John Stamos didn't make the cover of People magazine's Sexiest Man Alive issue this year, but he still had a photo spread worth gloating about, where he was pictured in a fancy suit with the headline "How I Stay Sexy at 50."

During a visit to TODAY Wednesday, it turned out that the "Full House" star's youthful charms are not only for the ladies. First, Stamos admitted he liked host Matt Lauer's Movember beard and asked if he could give it a rub.

"Is that a snap-on beard? ... I love touching you!" said Stamos, running his hands on Lauer's stubbly chin.

Lauer later asked Stamos what his secrets were to looking so young.

"I have good genes; I'm very lucky," he said with a dimpled grin. And when Lauer further noted that his guest looked more like like he was in his 30s than 50, Stamos joked, "Should we make out?"

But the two also shared less touchy-feely conversation, discussing Stamos' place in this year's Sexiest Man Alive issue. "People magazine has been so good to me over my 78-year career," Stamos joked. "This year, they said, 'Let's have a sense of humor about it,' and I said, 'I'm in for that!'"

And about turning 50, which the actor did in August? Stamos said he wasn't really bothered by hitting the half-century mark. In fact, he was rather "excited about it."

"Other than my father not being there, it was the greatest night of my life," he said. "Don Rickles came, Tom Jones sang, and the Beach Boys sang."

Still, just being handsome is no guarantee of long-term success in Hollywood. With a 30-plus year career in the business, he must be doing something right. Even here, the actor gave credit to family.

"I started on 'General Hospital' when I was 18. I said, 'Dad, what do I do? Give me something.' And he said, 'You treat the janitor the same way you treat the producer,'" said Stamos. "And that's sort of what I've tried to do most of my career."

Sounds like Dad knew best.
