Supermodel Naomi Campbell has apologized to NBC News for grabbing a camera during an angry outburst outside a Havana hotel Thursday.
"I am sorry for what happened. It was all a big misunderstanding. Please forgive me,” Campbell said in a telephone interview on Thursday afternoon.
Campbell grabbed a camera after she became upset that she was being filmed outside the Hotel Nacional during a trip to Cuba. "Why are you filming me? Stop filming me. Don’t!" she demanded before storming off.
Naomi Campbell has been accused of assault several times in the past: She threw a cell phone at a housekeeper in 2006, and was charged and sentenced to community service and anger management. “I’m never gonna get away from it. It’s part of my history, she told Elle magazine in 2013. “I was remorseful and regretful. I’ve served. I did that time. And I never want to be in that position again."
In 2005, she was accused of slapping an assistant and beating her with a BlackBerry.
And in 2010, she was accused of hitting her driver from behind in Midtown Manhattan, causing him to hit his head on the steering wheel and giving him a bruise under his right eye, NBC New York reported. The driver later declined to pursue charges.
