Bobbi Kristina Brown, the daughter of the late singer Whitney Houston, was going through a "hard time" as the anniversary of her mother’s death approached, her cousin told NBC News. But the 21-year-old had been working out at the gym and seemed to be doing well in the days before she was found unresponsive in a bathtub Saturday morning.

Brown’s husband, Nick Gordon, and a friend found Brown unresponsive in a bathtub at her Roswell, Georgia, home at around 10:20 a.m. Saturday and started CPR, police said. Police and rescue personnel performed life-saving measures and Brown was brought alive and breathing to the nearby North Fulton Hospital.

A relative told NBC affiliate WXIA that Bobbi Kristina Brown was in a medically induced coma, though hospital officials will not confirm her condition.

"She's been through a lot, you know what I'm saying. This is a hard time, it's her mother's anniversary of her death. It's been a hard time, it's a rough time of year," Jerod Brown, who said he was Bobbi Kristina Brown’s first cousin, said Saturday. "But she's a tiger, she's going to pull through it."

The incident is being treated as a medical investigation. Brown's scare comes less than two weeks before the third anniversary of her mother's death in an eerily similar setting. Houston, a seven-time Grammy winner, was found submerged in a bathtub in a Beverly Hills, California, hotel on Feb. 11, 2012. She was later pronounced dead. Brown is also the daughter of R&B singer Bobby Brown.

Houston, 48, had struggled for years with cocaine, marijuana and pills, and her behavior had become erratic. Her death was ruled an accidental drowning, with heart disease and cocaine use as contributing factors.

Roswell Police Officer Lisa Holland told NBC News that investigators found no drugs in Brown's home.

"Kris has been doing well, working out. She's been in the gym, doing cardio. ... Swimming a lot, getting her vocals right for this album that she's about to come out with," Jerod Brown said. "Right now, we just want her to get better."
