Fake baby bump was focus of fun for 'Best Man' cast

The cast of "The Best Man Holiday" are all friends. Really! The cast of "The Best Man Holiday" are all friends. Really! But that didn't stop them from going after Sanaa Lathan, who had to wear a big fake belly bump in the film since her character, Robyn, was nine months pregnant.

"I got punched in the belly a couple of times a day," she recalled, talking to TODAY's Savannah Guthrie Tuesday. Lathan was in the studio with co-stars Taye Diggs, Nia Long, Morris Chestnut and Terrence Howard, and gestured at them as being the culprits.

"They got a sick pleasure out of it," she added.

Fortunately, she knew it was all in play. After all, "Holiday's" cast has known one another since the first entry in the film's series, 1999's "The Best Man," in which former college buddies reunite for a wedding. For "Holiday," the gang's together again, but as in the first film, beneath the smiles there are some roiling problems that come to the surface.

But Lathan wasn't the only one who had to deal with some body issues on set: Chestnut, who plays former football star Lance, had to maintain his ripped look (which was on display thanks to a shirtless photo shown during the segment).

"Yeah, I walk around like that all the time," chuckled Chestnut. "This is the hard part because I'm trying to diet, and everybody here (on the set) is just eating, eating."

"The Best Man Holiday" opens on Friday, Nov. 15.
