Reese Witherspoon donned a pink dress and taped a very special message to boost the spirits of a 4-year-old boy fighting cancer after she learned that he loved seeing the actress in "Legally Blonde" on his hospital TV.

In a video on YouTube, and in a post on Instagram, Witherspoon addresses a boy named Will, who she heard about through an email that was forwarded to her. According to the description on the YouTube video, the boy's mom, named Julie, wrote the following:

"Legally Blonde" is on the hospital TV and Will has been watching it, like four times a day. When he feels good enough to want something, he wants Legos and "The Pink Girl." He finds comfort in it and loves the Pink Lady. So, if anyone knows Reese Witherspoon, and she would be willing to take a picture of herself holding a note that says "TeamWill," or any other shout out that she can dream up, she would give a little four year old boy fighting cancer (and even more so his mom) a big pick-me-up. Hop on the bandwagon and join #Teamwill Reese?"

"My name is Reese and I'm the Pink Lady," Witherspoon says in her video. "I heard from a few people out there that you're a big fan of my movie, 'Legally Blonde.' And I just wanted to let you know that me and Bruiser (her dog in the movie) said hi."

Witherspoon then holds up her sign with #TeamWill written on it (in pink, of course) and encourages others to share in the gesture. "We all want you to get better really soon," she says.

On the Instagram photo Witherspoon posted Wednesday, she wrote in the caption, to Will, that she's glad "Legally Blonde" makes him laugh and that she's sending a "big big hug" and her "hope and prayers."

Witherspoon, 38, starred as Elle Woods in the 2001 comedy about a sorority girl who enrolls in law school to try to win back a boyfriend. "Legally Blonde 2: Red, White and Blonde" was released in 2003.
