'RoboCop' is back on patrol in new trailer

"RoboCop" is back, and he's just as tough as he was in 1987. In the reboot of the classic action film, the role of the cop who's rebuilt as a robot crime fighter that was famously played by Peter Weller has gone to Joel Kinnaman of "The Killing."

Don't expect a slavishly faithful remake. Sharp-eyed trailer watchers will note that the suit is sleeker (and black) and RoboCop's origin story has been slightly altered, with a lot more focus on his family.

You'll recognize famous faces from superhero flicks. Former Batman Michael Keaton plays the evil corporate villain, and Gary "Commissioner Gordon" Oldman is a scientist.

For as much as Internet movie geeks hate the idea of remakes and reboots, reaction to the new trailer has been fairly positive. But of course there were some jokes. Cracked the Comedy Central Twitter account, "The most unbelievable thing about the Robocop trailer is seeing cops in Detroit."

"RoboCop" opens Feb. 7, 2014.
