Imma let you finish, Academy Awards, but the MTV Video Music Awards are the best headline-grabbing awards show of all time. Sunday's VMAs is the 31st annual show, but the event isn't settling into a comfortable adulthood. This is the show where something always happens.
Past ceremonies featured Britney Spears communing with a snake, Madonna and Britney smooching, Lady Gaga's meat dress, Beyonce announcing her pregnancy, Miley Cyrus twerking with Robin Thicke, and Kanye West deciding that Taylor Swift was undeserving of a trophy.

This year's drama could come from any corner, but the smart money's on Nicki Minaj making some sort of headlines. She's scheduled to perform her song "Anaconda," the new video for which features twerking, lap dances, and plenty of shots of Minaj putting her rear end through some impressive calisthenics.
