Jeff Probst says "so long" to Colton Cumbie on "Survivor."
No one has ever been able to vote "Survivor" villain Colton Cumbie out of the game — not during the "One World" season and not during "Blood vs. Water." That's because he's never given anyone the chance.
During his first stint on the show, Colton left the game due to a bout of appendicitis. Allegedly. And on Wednesday night's episode of "Survivor"? He just gave up.
"I don't want to be here anymore," he said as the contestants gathered around for Redemption Island. "I can't do this."
What could possibly have convinced him to hang up his buff after just seven days on the island? That's what Jeff Probst wanted to know.
“What is it that has happened on your tribe that is forcing you to quit, for what now I can confirm for myself is a second time?" he asked. "The first time you feigned appendicitis. Turns out you didn’t have it. You want to own that one now?”
Colton tried to play it all off for sympathy, claiming, "When my back is against the wall in this game, I turn into the person I was in 'One World,' and I don't want to be that person."
No one wants that, but according to past champ Tina Wesson, it had nothing to do with Colton leaving.
"Colton's having a hard time because we're not playing Colton's game," she said.
And Jeff? He was having a hard time reconciling the fact that Colton was allowed to come back and play the game at all.
"Lots of people like to watch adventure," he mused. "It doesn't necessarily mean they should get up off the couch. And I'm now convinced that Colton is the guy who never should have got up off the couch."
If teary-eyed Colton wasn't quite sure just how serious Jeff was at that point, the host left little doubt.
"You can keep your buff," he said with clear disgust. "I won’t give you the honor of throwing that in the urn. We’ll keep that reserved for people who compete.”
But while Colton's days on "Survivor" are over, the story isn't — or so he claims.
"Survivor" airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. on CBS.
