The countdown has begun: Jon Stewart has set a date for his final appearance as host of "The Daily Show."

Stewart said in February that he would be stepping away from his mock anchor desk after 16 years hosting the popular Comedy Central show. The network later announced that Trevor Noah, a South African comedian, would be taking the helm — but had yet to reveal a date for Stewart's last show.

At the end of Monday night’s broadcast, Stewart said his tenure will officially come to an end on August 6. After the audience groaned when he said he would be wearing a suit on his last day, Stewart joked that he would switch his outfit choice to overalls.

The host invited fans to tune in at home but also announced a competition to win tickets to the final farewell. A charitable donation to an online Autism fundraiser grants fans a chance to win a flight to New York and two tickets to the show’s final taping.
