Just because a woman has dedicated her life to religion doesn't mean she can't have a bit of fun, something that Sister Cristina Scuccia showed once again on "The Voice of Italy" Wednesday.

The first Battle round pitted the 25-year-old nun against 23-year-old Luna Palumbo, and the ladies dueled to Cyndi Lauper's 1983 hit "Girls Just Want to Have Fun." And boy, did the nun — in her habit and all — rock out.

As in her audition performance, Scuccia delivered a strong vocal performance all while showing off her energetic dance moves and never losing her breath. It was an act that had her fellow Catholic sisters dancing and cheering as they watched, while Scuccia's coach, J-Ax, ecstatically applauded her from his big red chair, and the audience hooted and hollered while up on their feet.

Palumbo, who also had vocal talent, didn't really stand a chance. Scuccia won the battle and moved on to the next round.

"Of course she did, sanctioned by God!" TODAY's Carson Daly noted on Thursday. "How would you like to be the person battling the nun? You better lay down!"

The song selection was a timely one. Just Wednesday, Lauper herself appeared on TODAY to perform "Time After Time," another hit song that was also on her 1983 debut album, "She's So Unusual." The songstress marked the album's 30th anniversary this month with the release of "She's So Unusual: A 30th Anniversary Celebration," which features demos and remixes.
