It's back! On Thursday night, "Parenthood" returns for an all-new season, and according to star Peter Krause, the show will have a new feel this time around.

The reason for that, at least in part, is because the scare is over for Kristina (Monica Potter). At the end of last season, she learned she was cancer-free, and that frees the storyline to go in a different direction.

"It is a relief to have that storyline done," Krause explained during a Thursday morning visit to TODAY. "There's a very different tone to the beginning of this season."

But no matter what that tone is, "Parenthood" won't veer from what it does best — presenting the highs and lows of family life in a way that viewers can relate to.

"The strength has always been its relatability," Kraus said. "There is a great believability about the show. So if you tune in, you're going to be tuning in to problems you face in your own relationships, your own family."

And if you don't?

"If you don't watch it, your marriage, your relationships with your children are doomed," he said with a smile.

"Parenthood" airs Thursdays at 10 p.m. on NBC.
