A 2-year-old sociopath? Tina Fey wonders about her youngest daughter, Penelope.
Raising kids is tough, but it's turning out to be a little tougher than Tina Fey ever imagined. After having her first child, daughter Alice, in 2005, the actress thought she knew what to expect when little Penelope came around six years later.
But, as Fey explained during a Wednesday night visit to "Late Show with David Letterman," she was wrong.
"I'm stupid! I thought, 'Well, they're both girls. Why are they so different?'" she said. "They're two different people."
And one of those people has given her cause for concern.
"The little one is such a … she might be a sociopath," Fey confessed.
Letterman insisted it was just be a bit "too early to pass that judgment," but the former "30 Rock" star wasn't so sure.
According to Fey, Penelope has a knack for bad behavior and an unsettling way of expressing her remorse. Whether she's reaching for a hot burner or reaching out to the family dog in a menacing manner, she just delivers a flat, unconvincing, "Oh, sorry."
Fey's not even safe from the tyke's tendencies.
"I was giving her a bath one night, and she was overtired — in her defense — and I said, 'OK, bath time over,'" she recalled. But it wasn't OK with Penelope. "She got real mad that I took her out of the bath. ... She looked me square in the eyes, and with two tiny little hands, choked me."
At least mom took it in stride.
"It’s so funny because they’re not strong enough to kill you," she said with a smile. "Not yet. Try again in a couple of years, Penelope!"
