Vice President Joe Biden is helping the elite squad known as the Special Victims Unit tell a story — and this one's important to him.
Biden was filming a guest role on "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" during a trip to New York City on Friday. The episode, in which Biden will appear as himself during a news conference, will air this fall.
Ice-T, who plays NYPD Det. Odafin Tutuola in the show, tweeted a picture of Biden appearing on set with co-star Mariska Hargitay.
The White House said in a statement that BIden's episode will be about "the rape kit backlog and efforts to end violence against women," according to Politico.
As a U.S. senator in the 1990s, Biden fought for legislation that held sexual assault offenders more accountable.
In February, he introduced pop star Lady Gaga at the Academy Awards when she sang her nominated best original song, "Til It Happens to You," which deals with campus rape.
This will be Biden's first appearance on NBC's long-running police crime drama, which will be in its 18th season. He has previous acting experience — as himself. He made multiple cameos playing Biden on the NBC comedy "Parks and Recreation."
