German astronaut Alexander Gerst captured photographs of Hurricane Edouard churning across the Atlantic Ocean Tuesday, from his perch aboard the International Space Station.

Hurricane Edouard has turned into the first major Atlantic hurricane since Sandy in 2012, though it isn't expected to threaten the United States.
