Horrendous Floods Kill Dozens in Pakistan After Heavy Rains

Floods triggered by heavy rain in Pakistan have killed at least 55 people, officials said.

Vendors and residents stand in floodwaters that rushed through a market area on the outskirts of Peshawar on April 3, 2016.

Flash floods are commonly triggered during South Asia's summer monsoon season. Pre-monsoon rains like the current downpour frequently cause damage in Pakistan — particularly in rural villages with minimal infrastructure.
