Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine was named People's Sexiest Man Alive for 2013. In an excerpt from the cover story, the rocker said this was a title he hadn't expected. "As a musician, you have fantasies that you want to win Grammys, but I didn't think this was on the table," Levine said, calling the honor "totally surreal, funny and amazing."
Levine rose to fame with the band, which started making waves in 2002 with their album "Songs About Jane." The group has since gone on to win numerous awards, including three Grammys.
Levine has been a coach on NBC's singing competition "The Voice" since it launched in 2011. His contestant, Javier Colon, won the contest in season one. Levine has not had a winning season since, but the show has been a big success, in part due to Levine and his interactions with fellow coach Blake Shelton.
The musician made his acting debut on season two of FX's "American Horror Story" in 2012. He played Leo, a newlywed who is murdered on his honeymoon during a visit to an abandoned mental institution.
Levine hosted "Saturday Night Live" on Jan. 26, 2013, and perhaps with winning People's Sexiest Man Alive title as his next goal, took his shirt off during his opening monologue.
Levine had a laugh with Jimmy Fallon on June 14, 2013, after all of his contestants had been knocked out on season four of "The Voice."
Levine cuddled with a pooch in TODAY's Orange Room on Nov. 15, 2013, during the show's puppy party.
Sorry, ladies! The Sexiest Man Alive is already spoken for. Levine's rep revealed in July 2013 that the musician had proposed to Victoria's Secret model Behati Prinsloo.
