Revelers attend Rio de Janeiro's 21st Gay Pride Parade at Copacabana beach in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on Dec. 11, 2016.
Marchers called for expanded rights and protection from violence for those in the LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender) community.
Two women kiss during the parade.
The focus of this year's parade was for the approval of a bill which would require Brazil's public health system (SUS) and private health plans to pay for hormonal treatments and sex-change surgeries to all those over eighteen years of age.
Despite a reputation for sexual tolerance, Brazil has a high rate of homophobic attacks.
Revelers take part in the parade at Copacabana beach.
Revelers dance and celebrate as music blasts from sound trucks on the beach's promenade.
The parade moved along the beachfront with a 124-meter long rainbow flag.
