The latest woman to accuse Bill Cosby of sexually assaulting her says it happened at a Playboy Mansion party, but the comedian's lawyer said Friday that Cosby wasn't even in California at the time, let alone the 2008 party in L.A., and he intends to prove it.
Chloe Goins, 24, claimed to Los Angeles Police detectives on Wednesday that Cosby drugged and sexually assaulted her at the "Mid-Summer Night's Dream" party at the Playboy Mansion when she was 18 years old.
But Cosby's attorney, Martin D. Singer, said the themed party took place on Aug. 9, and "Mr. Cosby was in New York on that date." Singer said he would give "documentary evidence to the appropriate authorities which conclusively establishes Mr. Cosby's whereabouts on August 9th and for the preceding and succeeding days."
Goins' lawyer, Spencer Kuvin, responded to the statement from Cosby's attorney saying, "Marty Singer is doing his job, which is what we all should expect of him. The LAPD will be the judge in whether his evidence is sufficient or not. Let's see his proof. Until then, it is just a lawyer talking, which is not evidence."
Goins is the second woman to accuse Cosby of sexually assaulting her at the Playboy Mansion, but the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office declined to file charges related to the first accusations, brought by Judith Huth, because the alleged assault at the mansion took place in 1974. In total, about two dozen women have accused Cosby of sexual misconduct.
