North Carolina police Tuesday released video of the arrest of Dylann Roof, the 21-year-old white man accused of having gunned down nine people at a black South Carolina church last week.
The video, recorded by a dash camera in the car of a patrol car, shows four officers approaching Roof's car in Shelby, North Carolina, last Thursday morning, some with guns drawn. He is then frisked and handcuffed without incident.
Shelby is about 250 miles from Charleston, South Carolina, where nine people, including the Rev. Clementa Pinckney, were shot and killed the night before at Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church.
Roof is charged with nine counts of murder in what investigators have called a racial hate crime.
